PJ is my favourite solo musician but she's just pipped by Bjork voice wise.

Bjork makes me cringe, which I don't understand since I can listen to joanna newsom with ease.

You like PJ Harvey and Bjork makes you cringe? O_o

I mean I like PJ Harvey, but I find her voice to be more inaccessible than Bjorks, believe it or not. I'd certainly consider Bjork a better singer.

Really? I think she manages to have a very warm voice while still having that sexual, visceral element to it. I agree Bjork is technically better though.
I just can't get my head around Newsoms voice tough.

Great choices.

I also like Mama Cass. For most people she's obviously not going to rank high on the hotness scale, but I do think she has a great voice.

Joni Mitchell has become one of my favourite female vocalists/lyricists...a big thank you to Crowquill and Jackhammer for sending me links to her albums.

I can't figure out why it's taken 5 pages for Debbie Harry to make an appearance, because that's who I'd pick.

I honestly haven't heard her on her own enough to be able to judge her singing. I'm sure she was good though, not being so hot and still being in a group like that must say a lot about her abilities.
