You mean a narrow minded hour of radio? I like a lot of those artists, but I would be so random in my genre choices; that I would probably put listeners off!

what radio station would go from playing prog, to rap, to punk, to gothic metal?
that wouldn't make sense. i'd pick a genre and stick to it. plus, if i'm listening to rap, i don't want a folk song to come on after it. when you get in a mood you stick with it. even if i liked every song on the playlist, but they were all from completely different genres, i wouldn't get into it.

John Peel did this for nearly 40 years and was highly respected for incorporating many genres into his shows. I understend your logic 100%, but that is exactly why I rarely listen to the radio. I have been asked a few times to do DJ slots at local clubs, but I know I would drop something so out of sync with the night I would get booed!

I just think if you have one hour and that's it, then I would try and get as much great unknown music as possible decent airplay.

Assuming each song is around 3 minutes, I imagine this is somewhere around an hour I don't feel like adding times.

Nick Drake "Place To Be"
Neutral Milk Hotel "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"
Rilo Kiley "August"
Patrick Wolf "Wind in the Wires"
the Smiths "Cemetry Gates"
Elliott Smith "All Cleaned Out"
Okkervil River "Black"
Modest Mouse "Trailer Trash"
Bright Eyes "The Movement Of A Hand"
Built To Spill "Car"
Ani DiFranco "Untouchable Face"
Travis "The Cage"
the Beach Boys "God Only Knows"
Morrissey "Late Night, Maudlin Street"
Heatmiser "Not Half Right"
American Football "Never Meant"
Death Cab For Cutie "405"
Voxtrot "The Start Of Something"
the Elected "Greetings In Braille"
Elliott Smith "Say Yes"

Well thought out, but still a distinct whiff of bleeding heart indie.

I'm glad that I live in a country where a station comparable to the BBC can't be raided by the government.
