i think that there are alot of very good english bands that havent reli made it big in the usa where you can win all the big awards and get reconiton 4 their music. but i think the music scene over here is great mostly in the indie/rock genre what do you people think of english music at the moment

American music is a mesh of the latest genres, as well as the early ones. There are many artists blending older styles such as new wave, folk, jazz, ambient, etc... with modern styles of music. There isn't much of a distinction of specific genres anymore. There is heavy competition over awards, and making it big. There are a lot of international artists who have made a face in America. There are still select independent labels and/or bands who wish to remain independent and not make it big. The underground music scene is pretty involved around the country. Music is at its peak here in America. Everyone wants to be a rock star, american idol makes voices heard.....its everywhere.

I think England has a great buzz about it right now, it's a really great time for music here.

I think there is a pretty huge barrier between European and North American music, and its really hard (especially for european bands) to gain recognition in both places. Mostly just because the USA dominates so much of the global media. Personally I hardly ever hear of many british bands except the ones that tour alot or are really causing a buzz. But then again, I doubt many people out of Canada know alot of the bands I listen to these days...

Long story short, what are some good English/European, indie/rock bands right now? Besides Muse, the Libertines, and Franz Ferdinand please...

Bloc Party, Reuben, Hundred Reasons, Yourcodenameis:milo, X is Loaded, Biffy Clyro, Razorlight, Ordinary Boys, The Open, The Delays, Goldie Lookin' Chain, etc etc, there's tons of bands, from all ends of the spectrum really.
