Simple really, just a thread to tell people about great songs, only one catch, you can't listen to the song on purpose. It has to come on the radio and be on in a movie or at a store in the background or at a friends home etc.

Today I heard the song Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys on Oldies 104.3 in Detroit, MI and I thought, yes I like this song indeed. I like it a lot.

Wonderful song! Second track on Abbey Road, probably my favorite George Harrison Beatles tune. I mentioned before the song was written about Patti Boyd; George Harrison and Eric Clapton's former wife. Very good song to play with two acoustic guitars to make the proverbial panties drop fellas. Good mention JGD!!!

Big3's post and youtube vid of the lad playing, 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'

Played beautifully and worth posting again.

And I heard a tune by Terry Jacks- 'Seasons In The Sun' on the radio yesterday.
I have always loved that song and hearing it again for the first time in years was a real reminder.

Seasons In The Sun

This tune has all the lyrical content of one of Ethans songs.

It's all there, childhood love and memories, stars, the seasons, depression, birds singing, dying...even a skinned knee reference!
Could this be the earliest example of emo?
Was Terry Jacks a man before his time?

You know a band named Big Wreck wrote a song about this. Here are the lyrics:

So I always get nostalgic with that song
But in my room it's forced
It has to be in some car across the street

And I always catch the back of your head in a crowd
Just don't turn around
It's never you and you'll ruin those memories

And those photos are great if I catch em with the side of my eye
But if I stare
It just turns into you and me
We're just standin there

And now it's over
Would you hear me
Scream at the top of my lungs

And when you go there
Would you hear me
Scream at the top of my lungs

So I always fool my friends and we head down there
They think that we're en route
We just drove past your old house and you weren't there
And I'm抦 always great when I'm抦 hangin with your buds and they lie
They think that I'm抦 just fine
It's always been that way
Just a "Pocketbook Brando"

And when you hold him
Would you hear me
Scream at the top of my lungs

You love my whisper
But did you hear me
Scream at the top of my lungs

So you crank that song
And it might sound doom
So just leave the room
While I sit'n stare
Cause this is rare
I really love that tune
Man I love that song
I really love that song
I love that song

So when you go there
Would you hear me
Scream at the top of my lungs

And when you hate it
Would you hear me
Scream at the top of my lungs

So you crank that song
And it might sound doom
So just leave the room
While I sit'n stare
Cause yeah that's rare
I really love that tune
Man I love that song
I love that song
I love that song

I was listening to a mix I made awhile ago and I heard Bowl of Oranges by Bright Eyes. I think this was the song that hooked me on Bright Eyes three years ago, I know it was one of them and i'm fairly sure it was the first anyway I thought it was the most beautiful thing i'd ever heard, and its become one of my favorite songs again its been awhile since i've heard it, I think my love for Conor is back hes such an amazing songwriter. "And I came upon a doctor / Who appeared in quite poor health / I said, "There's nothing I can do for you / You can't do for yourself" / He said, "Oh, yes you can, just hold my hand I think that that would help" / So I sat with him a while and I asked him how he felt / He said, "I think I'm cured no, in fact I'm sure / Thank you stranger for your theraputic smile""
