To be fair there have been a ton of RnB artists who've gone mainstream in the US. Late 90's up to the present day, ****ing loads of them. Chris Brown, Outkast (arguably), Lauryn Hill, Neyo, Brandi, TLC, Usher, Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean, Janelle Monae, The Weeknd, loads and loads and loads.

If you mean those are in the minority cos lots of others don't get signed isn't that just the norm? Could be applied to every genre pretty much. I'm sure there are a load of crappy Pop acts and Rappers who don't get signed either.
