Kasabian are pretty much everywhere here. People seem to see them as some kind of new Oasis. They're not terrible but christ are they boring.

Modern Japanese pop as you'd hear in their charts is very overrated by some, probably because of their obsession with idols or anime music. Much of that mainstream music is just as bad as it is in the West now.

The fandom for Japanese idols is even crazier than the fans of pop musicians in the west. I kid you not, if an idol gets a boyfriend all of her fans go berserk and destroy all of their merchandise. I always thought idols were stupid in that sense, being a cash cow for an evil record label all for the sake of preying off ronery otaku. How can anyone believe in something like that?

To answer your point, anybody who considers Kasabian an average band are overrating them.
They're woefully boring and make music for people who don't like music.
They have very little originality and very little talent, just a generic britpop band who are all hype and no substance.

I think the Foo Fighters and Rise Against are overrated.

Underrated: Hot Water Music and Kind Of Like Spitting
