Overrated: Wilco, apart from a couple of very good songs.
And, altough I still feel as if I'm not getting the point; Elliot Smith

I don't think Neutral Milk Hotel are overrated. I cry almost every time I listen to them. They're perfect. I must admit though, all I have is Aeroplane.

How are Wilco overrated? I was always under the impression that nobody gave a **** about then.

I adore Elliot but of course you always get way more attention after you die.

Neutral Milk Hotel are over-rated to an extent. "In an Aeroplane..." is a great album, but people talk as though it is the best album of all time.

People who rate it that high have clearly just got into alternative music, but can't be arsed to delve deeper.

I could never understand the appeal of In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. I tried to get into Neutral Milk Hotel and wanted to like that album but it just wasn't doing anything for me. Maybe other people are hearing something I'm not.

They've won several Grammys and there was definitely a time where they they were absolute critical darlings. Maybe not as much as they once were, but they're the definition of overrated.

If you'd asked me about NMH 3 months ago I would have said something along these lines.

Huh? I didn't say I personally cared about them, just that Wilco had won several. If anything that's an example of why I don't care about them.
