I was never much of a fan and the band kind of modelled themselves on Crosby, Stills & Nash. They were a product of the 1970s and really belong in that era along with bands like Bachman-Turner Overdrive. To say they are overrated is really meaningless, as anybody not into 1970s music would hardly know them.

The other artists that were mentioned Eagles, Floyd and U2 just about everybody knows who these are.

I'd agree with Most of that list... Strokes and Death cab are just bad.
However animal collective fur real lovely and sweet, they just take a little getting into...
And I love fleet foxes too!

The whole issue about The Strokes is pretty interesting. I know that every song sounds the same and the slurring of Julian Casablancas is pretty contemtible, but let's be honest: they are pretty sweet. The hairstyles are adorable, and they are really just a bunch of rich white kids who want to express their sorrow. They might not be eloquent, seemingly able to only deal with the emotions: "I'm happy!" or "I'm sad!", but they are quite nice in their own way. Don't pidgeonhole any band as being just "bad", because there is usually more to it than that.

You can add Holly Williams as underrated too, talent skipped a generation in that family.

Okey dokey elaboration on bad: fair enough.

I admit I've never listened to anything by Death Cab For Cutie and don't really intend to. The first Strokes album is good however and I wouldn't call myself a the biggest fan of them either. Their second album is pretty good for the most part as well but I think they said all that they needed to say on their first album.

They are not just bad, there's a lot more to it. They are unoriginal, they are less than talented and overrated.
