The whole issue about The Strokes is pretty interesting. I know that every song sounds the same and the slurring of Julian Casablancas is pretty contemtible, but let's be honest: they are pretty sweet. The hairstyles are adorable, and they are really just a bunch of rich white kids who want to express their sorrow. They might not be eloquent, seemingly able to only deal with the emotions: "I'm happy!" or "I'm sad!", but they are quite nice in their own way. Don't pidgeonhole any band as being just "bad", because there is usually more to it than that.

I admit I've never listened to anything by Death Cab For Cutie and don't really intend to. The first Strokes album is good however and I wouldn't call myself a the biggest fan of them either. Their second album is pretty good for the most part as well but I think they said all that they needed to say on their first album.
