I mean they came out at the EXACT same time as the likes of Joy Division, The Fall, PiL, etc. yet I've only heard a few of the older members (in age not join date) talking about them.

What the fuck?
Agree...although of course I'm also from that "Older Member" group as well.

Underrated = When a certain part of, or the whole, output and/or artistry is bypassed by the public in general and/or the general fanbase and instead gets a hard time based on overexposure of a certain other part of the output, alternatively not being recognized at all.

Overrated = When a certain part of, or the whole, output and/ord artistry is lauded by the public in general and/or the general fanbase, albeit unproportionally to the actual artistic value and/or musical significance of the output.
I'd just put it this way:

Underrated = When the quality of an artist's music exceeds their level of recognition.

Overrated = When an artist's level of recognition exceeds the quality of their music.

I hate semantics.

Underrated - Jimmy Chamberlin

The guy is one of the best drummers of all time. Billy Corgan may have been the songwriter, but Jimmy was the catalyst that brought it all together. Just listen to the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex.

I think Lou Reed is overrated, and John Cale underrated.

When John Cale left TVU, it took a nosedive.

Coincidence? I think not.

From what I've heard, John Cale solo is better than Lou Reed solo too.
