Radiohead does have an annoying fanbase.

For me, Radiohead are really not my style (maybe it's Thom's voice) and possibly for those who are critical of them they are a pinnacle of The Alternative Rocker Complaint as Image, but at least they carry things off with an intelligence and innovation. I can find some ways to say that they're over-rated or on auto-pilot, but that's more of a personal opinion than anything else. For what they have contributed to music, however, all of that is set aside.
I like The Bends and OK Computer, and they achieved the feat of actually surviving one of the worst singles of The 90's, "Pop Is Dead" and the Early 90's criticisms of "Nirvana-Lite". A lesser band would have been sent down the river with the likes of Kingmaker (and I remember when Thom was wearing the Bowl Cut!). They may have over-zealous fans, but then again a lot of bands do, and in this age of Idols and Clear Channels that claim to "Heart" Radio, at least there's an alternative. I don't know if I responded to the original question back in the first post, but that's my thought on Radiohead who seem to be seen as over-rated for understandable reasons although with a lack of historical perspective that can actually bring a little more understanding to what they do which has earned them their fans. |

REM is incredibly overrated. I can't stand them.

I've not seen an annoying Radiohead fan in a good while.
It's probably because they have nothing to be arrogant about now given that Radiohead has released the same album 3 times in a row.

Joe Satriani is an overrated guitarist. He's clearly a very skilled player, but he never does anything interesting beyond Surfing With the Alien. Beyond that album I find his playing to be too pretentious for my liking. Oh yeah, I think he played a hand in mucking up Steve vai's style as well.
