Didn't really feel like explaining but you pretty much said it for me.

Yes, you are right, it's very subjective, and I admit that I am not impartial, but let's take his voice for example: Frank Sinatra's timbre, Buddy Holly's fake hiccups, but as a whole, you can't say that his voice wasn't particular. His appearance, on the other hand, I think was original, at least I am not aware of somebody who dressed, and looked like him. And as for the songs, I don't think at that time many people wrote their own songs. In a documentary about Chuck Berry they said: "Chuck was the first musicians who wrote his own music." I know that it wasn't exactly like that (Robert Johnson, Ray Charles), but I don't know many people who wrote their own music before the 60s.

I actually think he was revered more as an icon than a musician really. He pretty much set the image of rockstars.

That is such a racist comment towards whites.

Mmm... within the historical context it really isn't. At the time that Elvis was beginning to create his sound, listening to "race music" was considered borderline taboo. Sure "hoity toity" is a vague stereotype, but Elvis did bring another races culture to the white community cloaked in aesthetic that was acceptable for the status quo to enjoy.

It's not that he used "hoity toity" he describe "whites" as "hoity toity whites" I found that to be a jab at "whites." Elvis was aimed at teenagers not at a whole race of people. His comment."hoity toity whites," was unnecessary.

I would describe their parents as the "hoity toity" people. Racism was running rampant back then, and rock and roll was considered "black" music. To be a white kid listening to rock and roll was considered rebellious, and Elvis made that music accessible to everybody. Adults back then were just more set in their ways - clean cut, wholesome, listening only to big band jazz and Sinatra.

Nope, there is no proof all of the parents of the teenagers back than were all "hoity toity." It seems your argument goes it was generational. Parents weren't into Rock and Roll probably because it was new and weren't use to it, plus other reasons they didn't like RnR. If their parents were listening to Big Band jazz it could've been Cab Calloway or Benny Goodman, and Frank Sinatra who was from Hoboken New Jersey. So why would the parents be "hoity toity" if they listen to music by African American, Jewish and Italian or a New Jersian? Maybe New Jersians are "hoity toity?" Did you ever watch Jersey Shore?

No but seriously if their parents were listening to that music (from Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra) then they were listening to people representing ethnic groups i.e. Italian and Jewish people that also suffered prejudice during that time.
