Now you're knocking Run-DMC? Yikes man.

I think he was being sarcastic, judging by the reference to 2012. But I think Run-D.M.C. also is overrated - the material after Raising Hell is not good. At least the Beastie Boys kept trying to grow musically, albeit in a way that grates on my ears.

Overrated - Oasis, Drake, Kanye, Foster the People (I like them but theyre just another indie band that will fade away in another year or so).

Underrated - John Frusciante, Wishbone Ash, Rush for most of their career.

I don't think he was being sarcastic considering that he's already talked about disliking the Beastie Boys previously.

Where you post like another Patton fan, have you checked out Fantomas or Tomahawk at all? I know you said you liked Peeping Tom, I thought it was kind of crap but whatever. The first two Tomahawk discs retain a lot of the straight ahead rock intensity that a lot of FNM fans felt was missing from the various side projects. Totally worth checking out, especially if you think FNM was underrated.

I wasn't.
Look at the artists who have brought out dope albums this year alone;
El-P, Death Grips, Killer Mike, Ab-Soul and Odd Future, all of these albums either have better production, or better rapping or both more so than any BB or DMC record I've heard.

Not to mention that Nas, Aesop Rock, Big Boi and Andre 3000 are all set to release new albums later this year.

New School ftw.

I agree regarding Run-DMC, who have always bored me, but not on Beastie Boys. They aren't my favourite, but they certainly stack up in terms of innovation and production, but probably not MC'ing to be fair (depending who the comparison is with).

I think you're confusing "modern sounding" with "good". Several of the newer artists you mention are people I like a lot, but it's an inescapable fact that aesthetics vary from era to era. Saying Run DMC or the Beastie Boys are bad because they don't sound like music from 2012 is like saying apples suck for not tasting like oranges.

Didn't say they suck, said I'd rather listen to the new artists over BB and DMC.
Not a fan of either, as Goofle said, I find them to be boring.
Maybe I'm alone on the BB, but **** it, I'm sticking with my opinion.
