The "I'm too lazy to make a thread but..."
...I really wanted to tell you about this song" thread.
Ever hear this great song but can't be bothered to make a thread? Heres a place for the rest of us lazy bastards to contribute to the musical education of the forums...albeit half assed. Fruitkey - Competition: Great lyrics, decent pop-folk. I found these guys on Last FM and couldn't find a thread for them to post in. I seems like a "summers dying" song but you'll have to listen to know what i mean. I hope someone finds some enjoyment here. I know I did. |
Ultraspank - Where: In no way do I condone buying this album since, as I recall, it sounds nothing like this song but I love this sort of panned out vocal atmosphere. A little too "meatheaded" for most of the forum to risk their credibility on, if you're bold, give it a shot. If you're not, try it in solitude.

Weirdest Lyrics Ever: Two Headed Boy-Jeff Mangum.
Two-headed boy All floating in glass The sun it has passed Now it's blacker than black I can hear as you tap on your jar I am listening to hear where you are I am listening to hear where you are Two-headed boy Put on Sunday shoes And dance round the room to accordion keys With the needle that sings in your heart Catching signals that sound in the dark Catching signals that sound in the dark We will take off our clothes And they'll be placing fingers through the notches in your spine And when all is breaking everything that you could keep inside Now your eyes ain't moving now They just lay there in their clouds Two-headed boy With pulleys and weights Creating a radio played just for two In the parlor with a moon across her face And through the music he sweetly displays Silver speakers that sparkle all day Made for his lover who's floating and choking with her hands across her face And in the dark we will take off our clothes And they'll be placing fingers through the notches in your spine And when all is breaking everything that you could keep inside Now your eyes ain't moving now They just lay there in their clouds Two-headed boy There is no reason to grieve The world that you need is wrapped in gold silver sleeves Left beneath Christmas trees in the snow And I will take you and leave you alone Watching spirals of white softly flow Over your eyelids and all you did Will wait until the point when you let go |

I do like them, I just didn't know the lead singers name. I've only heard "ten" and "holland 1945" though.
|
You should seriously get In the Aeroplane Over the Sea its one of the best albums ever. I can send it to you over AIM if you want. Its not all like Holland, 1945, thats probably one of the more upbeat tracks on the album and one of the few featuring a full band.

King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 is absolute minimilast genius. Sort of like a mellower version of the Stripes. Except featuring one of the greatest lyricists of all time. No offense to Jack White of course.
|
I think the White Stripes are rubbish.
To amend the comment, not saying no one should like them. Just that I don't. No disrespect of course, I've hardly given them a fair shot. |
Can't say I love them, but I certainly respect them(Not Meg White though). They've had mainstream success with a very quirky, eccentric sound.

I know it sounds nothing like the Stripes, I'm saying NMH is a mellower mminimilast group.

White Mud Freeway - Mercury: Not really sure how I found this song. Late night sundays in boston they play stuff that isn't signed yet, so im assuming there. This song seems to be best suited to show up in a silent scene in a film about the urban ennui that accompanies that young professional. It also doubles as a science lesson and frankly I don't know how you can go wrong.
P.S. If anyone wants to review any of those songs, plase do so. |
Genghis Tron - "Laser Bitch"
(Genghis Tron - Laser Bitch.mp3) Funky song. Starts out with some low-key dancey electronic stuff then progresses into some heavy guitar riffs, electronic drums and harsh vocals. |
^why do you steal my musical tastes?
also, what cd is that on? I only have Dead Mountain Mouth. |
I don't steal your music tastes. /:
Cloak of Love EP. |
k
wiki just told me that they have a ton of EPs that I now have to sharemine. |
Echo Helstrom - Davy Jones: A band named after one of bob dylans high school girlfriends sounds pretentious. To find out that its five classically trained jazz and classical musicians makes it worse. But the song, like the band, walks a number of fine lines never really crossing over into the abysmal territory you'd anticipate. I'm failing to find the lyrics online so that I could figure out why Davy Jones is even in this song but regardless, if you want to hear folk and clasical sensibilities merge on the rock stage this might be what you're looking for.
On top of that, they cover Radiohead's True Love Waits if you'd like to take a swing at that one as well. |
The Haters - Smack
12 minutes of what sounds like somebody trashing someone's kitchen. Great stuff , And more expressive than any guitar solo could ever be. |
VAST (Visual Audio Sensory Theater) - Touched: Sampling what sounds like the Aztec Boys Choir and some Tom Scholz acoustic guitar, VAST plays a love song thats novel in its sonic display, even if you might have heard thos lyrics somewhere before.
The selling point on this one is certainly those early samples that haunt. |
