Neal Peart may be more popular, but skillwise Peart and Bruford are about equal. People just think Peart is the most skilled drummer in the world because of how damn flashy he is.
And no way in hell is Lifeson > Howe, sorry. Lifesons solos are very flashy, especially since he was an early Pinch Harmonic user. But Howe is a more accomplished player. He has a more unique style, but at the same time he is also more versatile and diverse in his playing, everything from The Yes Album to Relayer to Going For The One to Drama has an oddly different guitar sound to it. Like Lifeson, Howe can be fast, flashy and technical when he wants to be (Sound Chaser) but he can also play some really beautiful sh*t (Turn Of The Century, Soon) as well as stuff I've never heard another guitarist do before (Close To The Edge, The Gates of Delirium, Going For The One). All I'm gonna give you is Geddy > Squire. Because Howe destroys Lifeson. =) Last edited by boo boo; 08-06-2007 at 12:06 AM. |

I included lyrics in Pearts criteria. I agree he's overrated drummer though. Still very good. Like I said Lifeson is personal preference.

Rush and Yes are two very good bands that I don't like all that much. Not my style, I would say Rush are the more technically sound and impressive Musicians and Jon Anderson and Yes are the better songwriters and innovators.
Good discussion guys! |

Both are very good songwriters in their own ways, i wouldn't be able to pick a greater lyricist. Geddy is a genious and writes so very profound lyrics, while at the same time, YES writes amazing and smart lyrics. Both just awesome bands.

That's just my preference, NOT what are considered the better albums in terms of popularity. F[u]ck popularity though!

Neal writes Rush's lyrics, not Geddy. |

I think a Jawbreaker album should be on there, but its hard to choose one album because they're all amazing. Its between Dear You and 24 Hour Revenge Therapy for me. I think Accident Prone and Sluttering tip the scales in Dear You's favor. I'm the only one still quoting lyrics Quote:
