It's the hardest of their albums, but I agree is still a lot more prog than metal or hard rock.

I'm going to add The Flaming Lips's "The Soft Bulletin"

I'll update this list when I feel up to it.

As a RHCP fan I know I definitely don't have a problem with BSSM - I'd say most would agree it's their best... but at the end of the day it's all down to opinion. I think it's the perfect melange of funk, general rock and pure bliss.

As for the Soft Bulletin... I haven't yet listened to it.

I wouldn't have a clue which Flaming Lips album to put up there. There's an argument for having Transmissions From The Satellite Heart up there with it being their breakthrough album , and as far as I know their biggest commercial success. The Soft Bulletin pretty much re-established them after they disappeared for a few years and was the start of a more mature direction. And Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots was their biggest success in over a decade.
But then again my favourite Lips album is In A Priest Driven Ambulance , so what do I know.

How's about Red, by King Crimson. It's almost as good as their debut. And better than a good deal of the albums up there.

Could you shut the **** up with this "better than _____"?

Every chance you get you mention how something you like is superior to most other things. What you like isn't BETTER than anything else. Get that through your head.
