Yeah, half of it was ballads, and half of it was funk. I think thats what it made it work so well, IMO is the last above average album they did. I guess. I just prefer the funk over the balladry, but thats just me.

Though Scar Tissue is one of my favorite songs from them.

As further proof of Rolling Stones irrevelance they rated Stadium Arcadium as their best album

. Actually Californication is more funk than BSSM which was more rap-rock. Most of it is funk, just a little more melodic than their earlier work.

I prefer the fusions like Quixoticelixer, which is probably my favorite Chili Peppers song.
