Don't get a Collection of Songs its sucks, my favorite is Letting Off the Happiness, which I think has his best lyrics its kind of a lo-fi indie-folk album. Fevers and Mirrors is along the same lines, Lifted and Cassadaga are alt-country albums, but Lifted is way better. Wide Awake is a folk album, Digital Ash is folktronica. Noise Floor is a bad place to start since its a rarities compilation.

Nice. Back on topic, another one of my favorite lyricists is Steely Dan(Forgot who did their lyrics).

Oh well then I can understand the disdain, he can be a royal, pretentious ass bag, but his lyrics, none the less, are great.

One thing that bugs me about Tom Waits is that when he tells a story, for some reason he has to specify the race and country of origin of every character. Whats up with that?
