I'm going to do favorites since thats what everyone else is doing, (I hope). I took out the genres I didn't like or didn't have answers for.

Country: Townes Van Zandt
Folk: Pete Seeger
Pop: the Beach Boys
Punk: Jawbreaker
Reggae: Jimmy Cliff
Rap: A Tribe Called Quest
Rock: Modest Mouse
Emo: Kidcrash
Post-Rock: 65daysofstatic

Most of my favorite artists didn't fit in any of that, what exactly is alternative?

I just love all these sub genres. Reminds me of late 80's metal.

THRASH
SPEED
DEATH
DOOM

blah blah blah

I think all the hardcore subsects aren't ridiculous. There's a clear difference.
