Animals is based off Animal Farm? How fucking stupid are you? Animals is partly based on Waters inability to come to terms with his fathers cancer; and generally, a vitriol against peoples lack of feelings.
Yeah, the stories that takes place in the album are Waters own original ideas. But the concept of using Pigs, Sheep and Dogs as symbols of different economic classes is directly inspired by Animal Farm.

No-all those sources are hearsay, and NOT from the horses mouth. Animal Farm can be applied retrospectively, but Waters always meant for Animals to be a rant against contemporary society and not against the class system.

But i totally agree with you about the rest. Music is too ****ing subjective to make a list, especially as one as small as the top 100 or 50. It would have to be far larger to be even semi-accurate
Your logic is greatly flawed sir, as Occam's Razor clearly states that the simplest answer is always the best. So therefore the smaller the list the more accurate it is of course.

I am beyond pleased with the way the arguments have gone here, may I say a few of you need the advantage of experience to understand that opinion is the opposite of fact and it's always dangerous to assume anything else. Remember be kind to your fellow (wo)man.

Everyone will always have their own preferences and individual top 10, but my goal is to come up with a list that w ill succeed in avoiding and unanimous or near unanimous dissension and I feel we are moving in that direction.

To touch on todays argument; I feel that the Beach Boys are a slighter more significant band then Pink Floyd. The Beach Boys longevity and stand alone style gives them an edge in my book. My personal taste is mixed between both as I'd rather hear a Beach Boys single, but a Floyd Lp.

Sorry Mate but Mr. Ed here to tell you Animal Farm was the inspiration for that theme of the album. 100% accurate, it's in the Book "Inside Out" written by Nick Mason.

Just a friendly reminder...

Your opinions could easily be viewed as ignorant and immature by those who have not had time to put them into overall context.

hah, he can't admit it. this is sort of like the time he rattled of a list of books that he claims he's read, and upon searching them I find that not one of them exists. But he SWEARS he's read them, and that one of them was even written by Winston Churchill. I wanna know where Winston Churchills phantom book went, its not like it was lost with history, yet this 10 year old has read it.

Roger Waters wrote most of the album, not Nick Mason.
