The Beach Boys have written plenty of great lyrics, just because they aren't all serious pieces based off Orwells most overrated book or complaining about teachers doesn't mean they're bad. Pet Sounds is one of the best albums ever, DSOTM isn't even Pink Floyds best.

MHDTV's assertion that The Beach Boys suck because they're lyrics suck is hardly any weaker than you calling David Gilmour a mediocre guitarist because his solos have no "feeling".

Its no sale, because "feeling" dosen't exist.

And DSOTM is Floyds best. I own every single album by them, and it's worthy of its status.

1984>You. Anyway, DSOTM is hardly boring or generic, with funk-inspired songs like Money, to instrumentals like Any Colour You Like. Just because you find prog boring doesn't mean it's bad. Powerful lyrics, sound effects, and liberal use of female backing vocals make DSOTM an amazing spacy feel.
