@ Jackhammer

I am glad you understand it like I do. It's not about preference, their success is almost unmatched the past 13 years.

I know, not many bands can survive 13 years by replaying chords that have been thrashed out a million times before. Sorry, I will probably come across a right twat concerning this, but I dislike Green Day with a passion, and I am not alone. A quick consensus of five friends. No Green Day fans in sight! They have their place no doubt, but we all have a band we dislike with a passion and they are mine! Sorry!

Fair enough. Not a huge fan myself, but I do think they deserve credit for adapting and maintaining relevance. Also they put on one hell of a show. Good call Mate.

Thats just it,adapting. Punk is street music and I feel Green Day are far too manufactured for this criteria, at least their sound leads me to this assumption. I'm sure they have deserved the accolades they have recieved. They have achieved more than I have in their lives!

Don't forget that technical ability is part of the criteria.

@Therealfrost

I'm not sure you read the criteria section. Anyway The Byrds the Supremes and Van Halen were all considered and in the next 15 after the 50. I agree 311 might be a stretch, but overall it's been a well received choice in the chat rooms and amongst my music loving peers. However Alabama? Really? It's not a best facial hair list...
