Re: Green Day
I don't understand why anyone would disrespect them. I can see not enjoying their music I myself am not a huge fan, Dookie was amazing, I enjoyed their most recent album with the exception of the title track and like 5-10 other songs from in between like minority and good riddance. But back to my point, they are one of the most succesful bands of the last 15 years and have adjusted theur style accordingly to stay mainstream while still staying original. I concede that they are not the most talented technical band, but they put on an incredible show that is chalked full of energy and passion and their fans are crazy for them. They have reached much higher levels of commercial success then most "punk rock" bands of the previous generation and all in their own generation and while people like to put them down (pardon the who pun) for not being true punk rockers I think thats absurd. They never labeled themselves that way so why hold it against them. Just my 2-cents. I think they are one of the most important bands of this and the previous decade and I believe history will take my side once it is written. |

he asked to rank those in order. i personally think green day sucks. the only reason i put them about the others is because a long time ago.... before they were 40, they had some good tunes. because i can put aside my personal opinion when i am ranking a list of artist i have to give them some credit to what they have accomplished (even though it doesn't appeal to me)

They're hardly musical musical geniuses, and they don't belong in the top 1000 for technical ability, so how do they make the top 50?

Still though, my thoughts on Green Day still stand. Maybe they never labeled themselves as punk rock, but this is what so many other people label them as and it's rediculous. They have no originality, their music in unnecessary, and personally I think they are phony. Who calls themself, "Tres Cool" anyway. Someone with a narcissistic complex. Also, it is also the people who get so "rah rah Green Day" that drives me to dislike them even more. |

^ yikes, shes breaking out her pschology book!
i swear i could never be with a person who did that for a living. i have this strong belief that unless you desperately need clinincal help for problems, stay FAR away from them. i think they can really cause you to overexam something small and make it a problem. this is just my opinion. im add and i was perscribed ritalin/adderal as a child and at the tender age of 12/13 i decided to stop taking it because i didnt want to feel medicated... best decision ever. now that i know what it is, i think its ****ED UP how they prescribe basically a speed derivative (did i mention its addictive?) to children.... talk about something that is gonna mess you up after taking it for 10 years. but i do understand there is good things that come out of your field, no hard feelings. wanna hug it out? |

lol, well I won't be a doctor to prescribe medication. I will be a therapist. In Canada therapist, unless they have a phd in medicine cannot prescribe drugs. Besides, I believe in talking things out, not supressing it with drugs.
Yes I do tend to look beyond the surface with many people. But it is often a good thing...people are not always as they seem on the outside. That narcissism remark was a only a joke. I am sure "Tres Cool" probably has some other reason for calling himself this. I'd love a hug jgd |

the allman brothers band are all around greater than eric b and rakim? hahaha.
eric b and rakim inspired nearly the entire genre of alternative hip hop and are one of the key influences on almost every talented alternative hip hop artist today. the allman brothers band are opening for dave matthews... |

@jgd85
Who would suggest to replace those four in the top 10. I am pretty sure I'll be keeping Clapton there as I feel you greatly under rate him as a 20-40 guy. Still I respect your opinion and would like to know who you would bump up and why. @ Sometimes I get High Duane Allman had a small influence on Rock Guitar Players and who are Eric B and Rakim opening for? Also which genre is more significant in music history. Today's Allmans are not the Idle wild South boys. |
