I'll jump in.
But it should be noted that my neighbor radio is really bad but my recommendation is really good.

Alright, here goes:
Inuzaka Skysword’s Radio: Summary: Well, going into this I didn’t have that much knowledge of what you listened to apart from it being metal in some form. I’m not a big fan of much metal, so I can’t say that I enjoyed a lot of these songs. Some of them I found painfully boring or clichéd, to be honest. However, there a good few that stuck out to me. As well, I got to hear a few songs from bands that I’ve heard of before, but not really listened to. Listening to this helped me learn a bit, specifically about the metal genre, even though it was pretty much what I expected. All in all, it wasn’t bad, it was a fun experience. Therion – “An Arrow From the Sun” - intro was okay. - HATED the vocals. - did not like the rest of the song. At the Drive-In – “Blue Tag” - Decent song. - Possibly my favourite ATDI album. Isis – “The Other” - Read a bit about this band, sort of curious as to what they sounded like. - I liked it. Amorphis – “Two Moons” - Did not like the electronic sort of intro - Didn’t like familiar/stereotypical “metal” sounds. - Sounded like something I’ve heard before. Draconian – “It Grieves My Heart” - Couldn’t really stand the style of guitar. - Didn’t like the vocals. - Found it kind of boring. Children of Bodom – “Touch Like Angel of Death” - Cliched sounding title didn’t excite me. - Did not mind vocals & drums. - Found the guitar & b/g synth irritating. - Really did not like the guitar solo, but I don’t like many guitar solos. Dark Tranquility – “Monochromatic Stains” - Did not like the vocal style. - Once again, found the guitar solo boring. In Flames – “Artifacts of the Black Rain” - I used to listen to some songs by them, but not older ones, I’m thinking this is older? - Did not like the guitar solo! Lamb of God – “Laid to Rest” - Did not mind the vocal style. - Found it kind of boring. - I think I would’ve liked the song more if it was faster. DragonForce – “Through the Fire and Flames” - Already had negative preconceived notions of this band, often joke about them. - Really, really did not like the synth (maybe it was guitar?) - Did not like vocals. - Hated the chorus. Kyuss – “Writhe” - Listened to this band in the past because I used to listen to QOTSA too. - Sounded sort of like there were indescrepincies (sp), like skipping in the song, sort of bugged me - I reaaaaaaaaaaally don’t like guitar solos. But this one was not too bad. - Liked the ending. Dream Theater – “A Change of Seasons” - Also had poor preconceived notions of this band. - Was definitely not going to listen to all 20 something minutes, was pretty overwhelmed. - The piano/keyboards reminded me of music from Final Fantasy, the game. - How the **** did someone manage 29 thousand plays of this band? Nightwish – “Live to Tell the Tale” - Put simply, I hate everything about this band. I can’t help it. Death – “Zero Tolerance” - With a name like that, I guess I kinda knew what to expect. - Now I know where Voice of the Soul got his avatar from. Woo. - I kind of expected a bit more brutality, honestly. - I almost didn’t notice this guitar solo, sort of tuned out. Ulver – “Hallways of Always” - Found it interesting, nice change of pace from the other songs. - Still, I don’t really like electronic music. - All in all, I didn’t mind it, though it is not something I could or would listen to regularly. Trans-Siberian Orchestra – “Prince of Peace” - The name of the group is familiar, but I can’t remember where I’ve seen it. - Another interesting change of pace. - The last half was familiar. This is some sort of hymn or carol or something? - Once again, not something I could really listen to. The Beatles – “Come Together” - For as popular and credited this band is, I have never actually listened to a song by them. Intentionally. - And I don’t get why they are so popular. - Found it boring. Led Zeppelin – “Kashmir” - Alright, I KNOW I’ve heard this guitar bit, if not the song before. - Like The Beatles, I don’t quite understand why they are so ridiculously popular. Opeth – “Godhead’s Lament” - Ugh. Sort of enjoyed the chill time from the past four songs. - Another daunting track length, eight or so mins. Napalm Death – “Human Garbage” - I love this band’s cover of Dead Kennedy’s “Nazi Punks **** Off” - Liked the drums. - Did not mind the song. Scorpions – “Rock You Like a Hurricane” - I’ve heard it before and I hate it. Everything about it. A Perfect Circle – “The Outsider” - I’ve heard good things about this band, sort of curious to how the sound. - Found the vocals too familiar to those I’ve heard in Tool. - Was not too impressed. HammerFall – “Remember Yesterday” - Eh, boring. Didn’t like it very much at all. Black Sabbath – “Paranoid” - I am very glad I heard this – I’ve heard it before, and I knew it was Black Sabbath, but I didn’t know what the song was. - For me, has really memorable vocals. Dinosaur Jr. – “Muck” - Another band I’ve read/heard about that I was curious as to what they sounded like. - Has a nice chorus. - Not bad, I liked it. Probably one of my favourite songs that I’ve listened to on your radio. Black Sabbath – “Supernaut” - Hm, another Black Sabbath song. - Wasn’t bad for a simple sounding rock/metal song. - Until the guitar solo. My Bloody Valentine – “What You Want” - Another band I’ve sort of heard of and was marginally curious about. - Unfortunately, I found it boring. Pelican – “Drought” - Yet another band I’ve heard/read of but never heard. - Pretty heavy sounding instrumentals, seems kind of like a jam. Cool. - One of my favourites from your radio. Morbid Angel – “Evil Spells” - The intro kind of made me expect a really fast sort of song, but it wasn’t. - I was sort of disappointed. - Didn’t like it that much. Napalm Death – “C.S” - Already mentioned that I don’t mind this band. - Liked the drum beat, especially right at the beginning. - Liked the droning, but not overly slow guitar/bass - Vocals weren’t special. In Flames – “Scream” - When I used to listen to this band, this is the album (Come Clarity) I listened to the most. - I liked this song. - What I like is the part where the vocals start. - I like how the guitars don’t make up the majority of the song. I wouldn’t call them atmospheric, but the drums and the guitar sound more together than other some of the other metal I’ve heard on this. Rhapsody – “Unholy Warcry” - After that whole little spoken intro, wasn’t sure I could take this song seriously. - No. I certainly can’t, it sounds like a really bad movie piece. Children of Bodom – “Every Time I Die” - I still can’t get away from these guitar and synth bits I keep associating (seemingly, justifiably) with metal. I really don’t like them. The Mars Volta – “Drunkship of Lanterns” - Aw yeah. First song I heard by this band, back when I used to listen to them. This song is sick. - IS ANYBODY THERE? - Lash of one thousand eyebrows clicking, counting the toll, counting the toll At the Drive-In – “Communication Drive In” - Already stated my opinion on this band/album. - Leave me alone leave me alone, I am nachyo brudda Blind Guardian – “Precious Jerusalem” - I read “epic power metal” in the description and knew I was in for something here. - Really do not like these vocals at all. Therion – “Dark Venus Persephone” - Ick, this band again. The vocalist sounds like an opera singer. - I suppose I can understand the appeal. Its just not at all there for me. Porcupine Tree – “Strip the Soul” - In Unfan’s opinion, the best band ever. So I am expecting TOP QUALITY. - Reminds me of Tool, from what I’ve heard of them. - Really boring. Kansas – “Carry on Wayward Son” - According to the description, this is a “well known hit”. It’s vaguely familiar. - I didn’t like it very much, but the guitar was memorable – it seemed like something I’ve listened to before. - LOL. The Kodan Armada does an impropmtu cover of this song in one of theirs, I just realised. Pink Floyd – “Money” - Okay, I know I’ve heard this song. - I am not a big fan of saxophones. But this saxophone solo made me think of The Mars Volta a bit. - I liked the progression, but not the sound so much. Radiohead – “No Surprises” - Such a popular band, and I haven’t really listened to them. Should be interesting. - It wasn’t bad. Not something I would listen to, but not bad. Anethema – “Everwake” - Nice guitar, not so bad a voice. - In a different mood, I probably would’ve have appreciated it a bit differently. |

Strip The Soul does sound like Tool, but its a departure from Porcupine Trees usual sound.
Well actually they don't have a usual sound, every album is different. They are similar to TMV in that they blend prog, metal, psychedelic and ambient elements, though PT make it more accessible and radio friendly. They are somewhat like a poppier, heavier (and more instrumentally talented) Pink Floyd. Last edited by boo boo; 07-14-2007 at 07:33 AM. |

Anyways I don't know why it gave you Amorphis. I liked them for like one week and they died out. After I got further into their albums I saw some ripoffs and now I hate the band. Pretty much the only good thing they do is harmonize some good vocals on their newer CDs, but that is about all. Quote:
Edit: and TSA I forgot about this thread so I will definitely have your radio reviewed by the weekend. Last edited by Inuzuka Skysword; 07-26-2007 at 12:47 PM. |
