Nick Drake didn't blow up after he died, Nick Drake didn't even get much notice until the whole indie-folk revival with stuff like Iron and Wine and Owen recently. If he hadn't died he'd probably have done a Vashti Bunyan and just have disappeared for a long time until and than come back start recording again when he actually had an audience. He'd be just as popular if he was still alive, he'd just have more material he might even be more popular. |

![]() I never said Jack Johnson died, but he's an example of an overhyped songwriter. And I agree all musicians tend to get hyped if they die, not just singer/songwriters. Quote:

As much as I agree with you on the majority of this thread, Dimebag is the most overrated guitar player ever. I mean how can you hate Dream Theater and say that Dimebag is a great guitarist. John Petrucci is so much better. Is sound is also way more unique than Dimebag. He also can shred faster than Dimebag.

What I don't understand is how somebody can bash a genre. I mean you can bash how talented a band is, but you can't really bash a sound. It is pretty much 100% taste at the point when you bash a genre. Even though Indie rock isn't my favorite genre (or even close for the matter,) I still support the bands for doing their own sound. After all at least they aren't ripping everythng from other bands. And just for the record *points to CT*...Black Sabbath > Led Zeppelin. |
