Mmm hmmm. No wonder I like Boston, Heart, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull, Van Halen and some other bands who were the most critically reviled of their day. Queen, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were not well liked by critics either.

Not to mention many critics have come to the same conclusion that Wayne Coyne has. It's nothing new.

-Cannot conceive of how people derive their own-
Well I am always right, so that must mean everyone else is wrong.

Quote:
Cannot conceive of how people derive their own
They get them from the opinion fairy.

Quote:
- When they do, you relegate them to the work of madmen and morons with uninformed insults and a cadre of smiley face icons.
Assuming you are refering to the album reviewers. Well, I hate the smugness of the musicians involved with indie/garage revivalism as it is, and I hate their music, their opinions aren't really deserving of my respect.

Quote:
- You rarely, if ever, back up your opinions with any reasons (presumably, given the aforementioned statements because you can't make your own, or none were given to you). It just is or is not by your bearings.
Its funny that you always call me the pretentious one. When you make so many far out claims such as to imply that I don't have any actual opinions of my own.

Quote:
- Everything you like smacks of pretension. I mean, did you really name drop Citizen Kane earlier in this thread? Why because its considered the greatest American film of all time? I'm sure you came in to weather some harsh criticism on that one.
It is one of my favorite movies. But my favorite is American Beauty. I'm a buff for older movies.

Oh my I'm different than you, I'm pretentious wooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo. I'm gonna read Leonard Cohens lyrics and go on about how great he is even though I never listen to his music. Wooooooooo hoooooooooo. I'm pretentious.

And thank you, you just called The White Stripes, Beck, Metallica, RATM and a lot of bands you like pretentious.

Quote:
- You hate Modest Mouse because he sings like ****, yet you claim to like Tom Waits
Yeah, I claim to like him, I actually think he's a piece of sh*t. I just want to be accepted.

Quote:
who its evident Brock takes many a style and phrasing from.
Only Brock dosen't sound a thing like Waits, he borrows most of his stylings from Frank Black, whose vocals can be pretty grating.

Quote:
You claim to like David Bryne whom Brock probably takes the other 50% of his vocal styling from. So the two bands he's influenced by; Great. Him; shit.
So, its a law now that we have to like everything our favorite artists influence?

I don't really care who Brocks influences are, if he really is trying to imitate the styles of Byrne and Waits then it just comes to show how truly a horrible vocalist he really is, because he comes off sounding more like a cross between Bullwinkle and Daffy Duck.

Quote:
Interesting Mr. Boo, I get the feeling that if this were 40 years ago you'd hate Led Zeppelin with the same amount of passion you hate Modest Mouse with, or more accurately, you'd hate Led Zep with the same amount of passion the critics did then.
No, because 40 years ago Led Zeppelin weren't the worst band currently making music and they were not getting their asses kissed by critics and annoying hipsters alike.

Not to mention you are being inconsistant now, I get all my opinions from critics, yet I feel obliged to hate everything they like? You never make any goddamn sense.

So would "Tundra-Desert."

*Looks at sig.*

I like Pavement. But Malkmus really was a prick who had nothing better to do than diss every band that was making better music than them at the time.

Corgan owned him hard with his rebuttal too.

Except, Pavement were way better than the Smashing Pumpkins.

Hehe, In The Flesh.

If I had my way, I'd have all of you shot!

No kidding. You show up here and pretend that you've got some great insight into the personalities of everybody who posts here based solely on their listening habits. Then you criticise anybody with an opinion contrary to your own.

Sometimes I wonder if you do it just to be contrary.

Ok, so one day BB Kings wife decides to get a good present for his 81st birthday. So she decides to tatoo the initials BB on her ass cheeks.

Well that night on BBs birthday, BB sits down on his bed and his wife says "BB, I have a special surprise for you", so she pulls up her dress and takes off her panties, and BB stares for a little bit, before he finally asks "Who's Bob?"

You are a funny one. BTW the reason I quoted this pointless post of yours was in case you went back to edit it to try to bail yourself out of the sh*t.

You seem to like doing that.
