You all should check out www.secondhandsongs.com . Its a database devoted to song covers, good for figuring out who has covered a particular song, when, and who wrote the original, how many times a song has been sampled, what songs the sample it appears in, and a whole bunch more information regarding covers. Great resource!

both the white stripes "jolene" and "i just dont know what to do with myself" are good covers.

well, duh. yeah, that was a good cover. Rage did the whole of renegades pretty well.

^Agreed. Another entire album full of good covers is Metallica's Garage Inc. Granted, their original material and pre-haircut songs are best, but they did a kick ass cover of Hank Williams' "Tuesday's Gone". (It even had John Popper of Blues Traveler on the harmonica.)

Yeah Whisky in the Jar is a great cover.
