Do traditionals count? Because a lot of my list is my favorite version of a traditional.
Twist and Shout by The Beatles, originally by like The Isley Brothers or someone. Hurt by Johnny Cash A Little Help From My Friends by Joe ****er In My Time of Dying by Led Zeppelin This Land is Your Land by Bruce Springsteen, in concert in the old days, effing amazing Black Mountain Side by Led Zeppelin, the melody is a traditional folk song, Jimmy dominated that song. House of the Rising Sun by Eric Burdon and the Animals, originally taken fro Bob Dylan who got his version from Dave Van Ronk who made a significant change on this old, traditional tune. Which Side Are You On by Pete Seeger, maybe one of my favorite protest songs. So ominous when done by Pete Seeger and the entire audience singing along in the chorus: YouTube - pete seeger which side are you on Down by the Riverside by Michael Penn, for the comedians of comedy documentary.

Kate Miler-Heidke is often found making parodies of popular songs. But I absolutely adore this cover of John Farnham's 'You're The Voice.' I love how she manages to sneak in her opera/classical voice in parts.
It never ceases to amaze me how that voice can come out of such a little person! |
