So, what is weird then? Is it something that's not normal? I could say your face was weird, but because you were born with that ugly head of yours, you think it looks normal and so do most of your friends. So what is it then? I would think listening to Robbie Williams was weird but I'd have the female 40-something army on my a$$ saying it was normal.
Anyway, there's no doubt about Frank Zappa being weird, so there's one.

I guess Primus would make the list, they're incredibly weird. Good though, very good.
Check out the Brown album, I don't even know if that's the name though?

My vote goes to Secret Chiefs 3: experimental middle eastern, death metal, surf guitar, techno, film score, cowboy, gypsy, bollywood music. Amazing stuff. "Book of Horizons" is a good starting point for them.

Oh man. I agree full-heartedly with those last two suggestions. For Primus, I'm a big fan of Pork Soda and Tales From The Punchbowl. As for Secret Chiefs 3, I really like Book M and Second Grand Constitution and Bylaws, Hurqalya. It's some good stuff.

Yep, really all the Secret Chiefs albums except the first one are amazing. The first one's good too, just not quite as good.
Another band in a similar vein is Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. They play this very fractured music that fluctates between super mellow and super loud. They also make a bunch of their own instruments, especially in the percussion department.

And speaking of people who make their own instruments and make weird music I highly recommend Tom Ze and Cyro Baptista. Both of these guys are Brazilian tropicalismos who make strange, fun music played on junk.

But, yeah, they're great. Ever seen them live? The put on a fantastic show.

And no, I haven't seen them live, but I really want to. Some of my friends saw them live with Secret Chiefs 3 and they said both bands were amazing.

I had tickets for that tour (I assume this was the one about a month or so ago, right?) and they freaking cancelled the night of. I was totally bummed. But I saw SGM a few years back (2003 I think) and they kicked major ass. I talked to the singer, Nils or whatever his name is, after the show for a minute too. He seemed like a nice guy.

Yeah, I think that's when it was. And that's pretty awesome that you got to talk to the singer as well.

You mentioned liking Mike Patton earlier. Do you like the first Fantomas album? If you do, you'd almost definitely like The Locust. They're like the first Fantomas album with very strange synthesizers thrown into the mix. http://www.myspace.com/thelocust
Another band in that ballpark that you might like is An Albatross. Similar type of music but played with 60s pop band instrumentation (organ, horns, etc.). http://www.myspace.com/analbatross23

Spoiler for Lyrics:
Minutes went by like minutes
Two by two we all played dead
Subdued by the hands that are spanking us
In the classrooms
And the homes in our heads
Bare you ugly ass for
The pretty light, the pretty lights
Bending for the cheer of the parasites
When they hate you just show them
Bending for the cheer of the parasites
When they hate you just show them
Minutes went by like minutes
Two by two we all played dead
Following the followers
For the following
A gold tooth and a price tag
For a smile
Tempted danger
But the blow was staggering
You blow the stop sign there's
No u-turn, no u-turn
Glamorized and galvanized in the public's eyes
Stardom for x amount of
Glamorized and galvanized in the public's eyes

Pressure
Don't watch me
Don't watch me
Pressure
Don't watch me

Pressure
Don't watch me
Don't watch me
They're watching for you to fail
They're watching always for you to fail
Backwash is your mouthful of paradise
Trade your morals for a chance to win (a chance to win)
Dabble in the magic of happiness
Then salvage the energy to grin (the energy to grin)
There is a snapping point there in everyone
Somewhere behind the eyes 9behind the eyes)
Potent delivery, a means to an end

and the heartwarming story of Midgetaur:
Spoiler for lyrics:
I'll succeed it's a breeze
Or are ya gonna cry for momma
You know it's spooky, he's out there, he's waiting
He knows you and me, he's hungry, it's frightening
Let's place our bets
You' ain't got a mutha ****in' chance
Don't have enough gas
This is your last chance, chicken out
Your car may be fast
Spin of the wheel, a roll of the dice
You think you can last
Did you see the can
Saw the can, empty the can, man
By the skin on your ass
My money's on the midget
Can you last
One gallon challenge
There's a sucker born every minute
It's never enough gas
First you're gonna ****, then he's gonna kill ya
No matter how fast
No one will ever mock him again
Best take your last breath
The blood will rain, a sacrifice for his pain
By the skin on your ass, my money's on the midget
You're gonna be payin'
You know it's spooky, he's out there, he's waiting
He knows you and me, he's hungry, it's frightening
Let's place our bets
You stupid ****, you're gonna die
Don't have enough gas
A lonely road, a little man thing
Your car may be fast
Eight legs, a thousand spikes
Do you think you can last
Do you think he can, I don't think he can
He's a dead man
By the skin on your ass, my money's on the midget
You last or your ass, you're gonna be payin' with it
I'll succeed it's a breeze
Or are ya gonna cry for momma
I'll succeed it's a breeze
I can hardly see, and this cannot be happening
And he has got me, this cannot be happening
The fear is so thick and the sight paralyzing
If I could just think there'd be a chance of surviving
The more fighting and screaming the tighter he's gripping
Spiked wrist bands discouraging my hopes of escaping
He's got his sights set on a future of torturing
I failed the damn challenge I bet the others are laughing
I got something I want you to see, you will fit in nicely
It's my true story, I am not fantasy, yes I too have my needs
All of the tales are coming back to me
The story of his failure is coming back clearly
He could play all the parts but his limbs were too stubby
Even had all the poses but looked dumb and stumpy
But apparently that day the devil was napping
Now I am the victim of tales i've been hearing
How he tried out and they all stood there laughing
It's a gift from me to me, I don't take rejection lightly
I'm the best you will agree, you are sure to like me
So divine and it's all mine, it's all mine
I cut and past, and cut and paste
So divine and it's all mine, it's all mine
I cut and past, and cut and paste
