Thomas Erak; Fantastic guitarist of the progressive scene.
Andres Segovia; Greatest classical guitarists to have ever lived. Django Reinhardt/Jimmy Smith; To me, two of the most influential jazz guitarists of all time. MF DOOM; Master lyricist and incredible producer. Devendra Banhart & Noah Georgeson; Folk guitarists ftw. Lemmy; white line fever. ELO; Quite frankly, the greatest band to have ever formed, melted faces, and shatter pelvises |
My list is very extensive, but to narrow it down...
Janis Joplin - Her voice...amazing, just amazing. Flea - One of the great bass gods. He is my main influence on bass and was the one to inspire me to pick a bass up. Omar Rodriguez Lopez - No traditional music training, but still comes up with the best solos and spontaneous jams I've ever heard. Jimi Hendrix - Self explanatory, but he's one of my favorites mostly because he pioneered a different way to play the guitar. Johnny Greenwood - A musical genius in my eyes. He plays, experiments with, and records so many different instruments in amazing ways. |
I managed to get it down to 6 musicians.
John Frusciante - great musician (past RHCP there is Ataxia, his solo stuff and Mars Volta collaboration stuff), his playing is pure. Andy Latimer (Camel)- Pure emotion Valfar (Windir) - Pure emotion of a different kind. Robert Fripp (King Crimson) - This guy is a genius Flea - Bass god Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth, Bloodbath) - Marvellous songwriter/vocalist Jari Mäenpää (Ensiferum, Wintersun) - Marvellous songwriter/vocalist Chuck Schuldiner (Death) - Marvellous songwriter Jaco Pastorius - Bass god. Tony Levin (King Crimson etc)- Bass god, pioneer, etc... David Bowie - This guy can adapt to anything - I like almost all of his stuff. Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree)- Great musician/producer |
Jimi Hendrix
