I totally get you, man. The couple shows I've been too I have thoroughly enjoyed, great performances with a good amount of energy. But I'm talking absolutely insane live. Like, I love Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Modest Mouse, and The Strokes, but they simply aren't what I'm talking about. I mean the band that is a legend almost entirely because of the show they put on. I don't know how else to express it other than old RHCP clips:

Yeah I dont think any of the bands I listed would be pinned and hyped as good live bands, they were just my personal choice from seeing them in the past. I dont think there is anyone like that at present unfortunately, over here KoL get hyped a lot but its not really for their live shows.

I believe truly great live performances consistently come from Gogol Bordello and Flobots, at the moment. Les Claypool still puts on a great time.

Some bands I've seen who put on really good shows:

System of a Down

The Queers

Phish

(or to show how amazing Phish's lighting is)

Gov't Mule

Dark Star Orchestra

Andrew Jackson Jihad

I saw Interpol and Arcade Fire in November, both were sensational especially Interpol. One of the tightest live bands in the world right now.
