Bump.
I was watching a RHCP doc (*insert cringe here*) and was wondering: who are the truly great live acts of today? You know, the ones like 1980s RHCP that grabbed hold of an audience and shook the ever living shit out of them?

rhcp were utter clown shoes when i saw them, i hated every minute of it. not really sure who'd be classed in general as an amazing live band these days, but over the past few years i'd say my favourite few live acts have been..
pixies dinosaur jr. mogwai pavement beck nine inch nails teenage fanclub brand new the specials nick cave and the bad seeds arcade fire muse (not a fan of their music, but their live shows are utterly fantastic) animal collective (as above) modest mouse the strokes lady gaga hole prince fucked up interpol radiohead bruce springsteen yeah yeah yeahs alexisonfire blur death cab for cutie bon iver the new pornographers belle and sebastian the vaselines kanye west deftones glassjaw built to spill the flaming lips silversun pickups dirty projectors stevie wonder orbital the national wooden shjips placebo probably a couple of others, but these are the ones which stand out to me the most. i remember how i felt after each and every one, feeling buzzed from a gig is the best thing ever. i'll probably come back and update this list next week after i've seen sonic youth, got a feeling they're going to impress me beyond expectations. I totally get you, man. The couple shows I've been too I have thoroughly enjoyed, great performances with a good amount of energy. But I'm talking absolutely insane live. Like, I love Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Modest Mouse, and The Strokes, but they simply aren't what I'm talking about. I mean the band that is a legend almost entirely because of the show they put on. I don't know how else to express it other than old RHCP clips:
