I've still bought most of music in the CD form, but the stuff I do download, I get from iTunes. Back in the day when Napster let its users freely trade music between themselves, I used it. I eventually lost 2000+ Napster songs to a hard drive crash. That hurt.

1. Do you download legally or illegally? Why is this?

Nope. I don't like it.

2. Do you feel that illegally downloading music takes away the artists rights? Is it stealing from the artist?

Don't know if it's taking away their rights, probably some of their cash supply though.

3. What are your opinions on the legality of downloading music?

I don't like it. I'd love to say it shouldn't happen, but it's unstoppable. it doesn't matter how legal it is.

4. If you do download music, why download rather than buy from the shops?

-

5.Which downlaoding software do you use and why?

-

Edit: I just thought of something. As against downloading music as I am, I have absolutely no problem ripping off the film/tv industry.
(not that I do it, but I aquire what I can through friends..............Yes, believe it or not, I have friends!)

I download hard to find albums and live recordings of bands live. I normally download once I hear a song or band I like when their cd isn't available or I don't have it yet, then I go out an buy it.

Does anyone have a good (legitimate) source for buying new overseas tunes, other than ebay (which is what I generally end up doing).
