Song finding methods cont.
Alright, I just posted this in the electronica forum, but I realize it is more general, and considering the high traffic in this particular forum, i'll post it here as well... here goes (if this is a violation of the TOS, im sorry and I'll be more carefull when making my posts from now on)
Alright, I spend plenty of time on the web searching for songs, but im mostly frusterated by the results. The method I use is to type a song that i like into google, and look for forums, reviews, reviewers etc. that will hopefully lead me to more music. Unfortunately the stuff usually sucks. I find rap and techno to be particularly difficult considering the majority of listeners for rap like ghetto/gangsta and techno listeners.....have no clue. So I hope that by registering for this forum (which is active.. woot!) I will find some people that have good ways of finding songs (and don't wanna buy thousands of dollars worth on iTunes.. Here are some of the songs I find amazing, if you like these, I'd love some reccomendations or some ways you find music too. I think it is important for people to listen to these actual songs to understand my musical taste. I'm hoping for some people with similar problems and enjoy the same type of music. And if you don't like it, please save negative comments for another thread. here is a sampling of certain genre's and my taste in each. Techno..ish Royksopp - What else is there (thin white duke remix) The Killers - Read my Mind (Pet shop boys remix) DJ Taucher - End of Time The Chemical Brothers - The Golden Path Rap Outkast - 13th floor/growing old AZ - This is what I do Beanie Sigel - Remember them Dayz Ghetto Boys - G-Code Mekalek - running in place Nas - Doo Rags Nas - New World 2 Pac - Old School Rock Nirvana - All Apologies Nirvana - Lake of Fire Pop Alanis morrisette - hand in my pocket Primitive radio gods - standing outside a broken phone booth with money in my hand Opera Hans Zimmer - Vide Cor mem Classic rock Led Zeppelin - Hey Hey what can I do Paul Simon - Me and julio down by the schoolyard So im not exactly looking to dance. These songs are smooth, kinda poppy...but have tight beats and a deep composition rather than the short/repetitive BS that seems acceptable these days. (except call on me which is repetitive.. but come on... have you seen that video??) So let me know what you think, Olsonic

yup, I've used them both. Last.fm is busted in my opinion and here's why: when audioscrbbler records my music plays, it doesn't do it accurately.. It claims 2 Pac is my favorite artist with over 1000k plays.. when my iTunes shows play count, pac isn't in the top 20 anymore. Therefore.. my "neighbors" are all ghetto-fab kids that listen to 50 cent etc when my musical tastes are MUCH more diverse... i find the neighbors thing to be busted
Pandora.com.. i do love that, but is it even being worked on anymore? I found the selections repeated after a while, do you have the paid version?

I'd also suggest staying around on this site for awhile, checking out various threads and once people get to know your taste you'll find out more and more bands. In the past, three years or so this site has done so much for my musical taste/knowledge.

i honestly dont use either enough to tell you. Go through blogs, blogger search gets me a lot.
this is handy too. G2P Beta: Using Google to locate MP3s if you ever want a sample by some less-heard of artist, this gets some mp3s using google. Good alternative to limewire. and if you dont have it, get soulseek |

Thats what Im looking for, we'll see, I enjoyed some of your posts in the other threads.. Im just glad this forum is active considering the numerous sites I've been on that were just complete wastes of time... Like, I'd make a post. and instead of positive responses, people would just critisize the most pointless BS and try to prove their taste was superior...
