Britain, losing its class
|
He's Irish so he can't have a proper knighthood so nobody can call him Sir Bono.
|
|
Hmm... More bono hate I see.
|
Where?
|
Why else would this thread be made.
This will fit nicely with the 50 or so other "Bono sucks" threads. |
|
Who would want him knighted any way????
|
Me...it only takes one slip of the sword!

If it becomes a Pro Bono thread or an Anti Bono thread depends entirely on whether people think he's deserving of it or not. |
If he's being knighted, good for him.
He's done great things for them Africans. |
Yeah, I love how people think that Bonos humanitarian contributions are completely insignificant just because they think he's a egomaniac (won't argue with that) and they hate his music.
Its all these socialist assh*les who give him a hard time because he actually spends some of the money he makes for a living, rather than just giving it all alway. |
he only does it for publicity
along with bill gates. looking good for the cameras |
Thats lame ass bullsh*t... You don't have the slightest f*cking idea what his motives are, and why should it matter anyway, Bono and Gates are devoted to giving money to good causes, and thats all that should matter, they've helped more people than you ever will in your lifetime, what right do you have to give them sh*t for it? You think you're so damn hot? You try coughing up 31.9 billion to help provide for the less fortunate.
If I saved someones life, and someone questioned my motive directly afterwards, I would shoot that person in the face. |
i question his motives, because they are both rich *******s.
i do my part to help less fortunate people, i work ats atte parks in the sumemr for free, id ont have money, but money doesnt show caring. |
Lol, who gives a sh*t about caring, if I was homeless and I had starving children I wouldn't be asking for care, I would be asking for money.

He's quite willing to get his face on the news and bleating on about those less fortunate than others yet when it comes down to doing it himself with his own money , rather than the money of others he's quite willing to get a team of lawyers and accountants to search out every loophole & offshore company in existance. So he can open a music school in Dublin and say how he is making a difference. Well big f*cking deal , imagine how many schools could benefit if Bono's millions were having the proper amount taxed that he should pay. But of course by doing it that way you don't get your picture in the papers so he's not interested. I realise that he's not the only one , but then they're not getting nobel peace prizes & knighthoods either. |

Regardless of how tasteless the government spending is the fact is that money is what goes into schools , hospitals , public services from which a great many people benefit , as I have come to appreciate after watching my Father recover from heart surgery. So you might not see it as a big deal but I do.
Even if an ignorant selfish bastard like me is willing to give up 20% of the peanuts I earn compared to Bono don't you think such a wonderful humanitarian like him would be only too happy to give up at least 20% of his own earnings? |
Yeah, that is silly not to pay taxes... But I think where he slacks in taxpaying, he makes up for with his philanthropy. Just like where you slack in philanthropy, you make up for with your taxpaying.
|
If he would just sell all those designer sunnies, he could probably wipe out some bad disease.

Fact is if you are going to lecture me about my spending habits ,while at the same time hold a Swiss bank account full of money that should be going towards educating kids & looking after the sick & elderly ,then I will always think you are a hypocritical tosser. |
I am yet to see evidence of Bono doing what is commonly known as "putting your money where your mouth is".
His big mouth appears on all the TV stations, telling us what he wants us to do over and over again... while his money is kept nice and safe in Switzerland or Holland. If you actually donate to any of Bono's causes then I think you're being stupid. Donating money to charity is a type of investment in a type of business. As any decent businessman would tell you, you shouldn't invest in a business where the people who run the business aren't willing to invest their own capital. The point being, if Bono doesn't think these causes are worthy of his own money then we certainly shouldn't think them worthy of ours. |

knighthood should only be for people in the military who perform very well, not celebs.
