Please expound, good sir. Lennon released at least two amazing albums, that rival the best albums the Beatles had produced(I say two because I have only really listened to Plastic Ono Band and Imagine).
My favorite song is Oh Yoko My favorite album is Plastic Ono Band. Without a doubt he was the most influenced of the Beatles, he pushed them in new directions, away from the pop writings of McCartney. He is one of the few people that you could hold responsible for the creation of psychedelic rock/pop. Paul was not doing anything unique and different(Even though he did write some amazing songs). Lennon was the reason we consider the Beatles one of the most influential bands of all time, and he continued to greatly influence the world after the break up. McCartney and his Wings made not but a small dent in the musical world, sans all the terrible covers of live and let die that were made in tribute to the group.

There is no point having two threads and it's just as easy to discuss it in the main thread and then more fans may reply. Merged.

That's a shame, you're skipping all the good ones.

Lennon did only two good solo albums, the first and second one.(P.O.B. and Imagine)
By the time he moved to New York his best years artistically speaking were behind him. My favorite Lennon album would probably be Plastic Ono Band.

Plastic Ono Band for me, but even after Imagine he had a number of great songs here and there. Walls and Bridges, though, comes very close to getting back that greatness in full.
The Lennon Collection is possibly tied with Plastic Ono Band. Many of his singles are still strong stuff, especially the 69-72 era. You can throw in any great comprehensive collection of your choice here, but Collection was from my era. Sadly, Sometime in New York City was more outburst that dated badly than inspired work, but still "New York City" remains among my favorite Lennon solo songs. Mind Games had that beautiful title track and his final album of the 70's, Rock and Roll, was a very bittersweet listen that I sometimes return to every now and then. Live Peace in Toronto is pretty good as well. A solid document of Lennon's performance of that event. |

Mind Games is my favorite Lennon album. Beyond the title track there is a wealth of fine pop songs, mostly mid-tempo, and a some nice ballads. It's a small melting pot of various sounds and perhaps it takes time to grow on people (as it did me), but I find it's the one Lennon album without any songs I try to avoid.
