Default Professional Musicians! HELP

I'm currently in college for a computer science degree. I realized earlier this year I dont want to be a computer scientist. I dont want a job in IT. I want a job in music. Im seriously considering dropping out of college and just going for it. whats the plan?

I'm in a band right now and we play very well together. we have good energy, and the three shows we've played have blown away our audiences. We are very different from all the other local bands around here, we're not emo, metal, dub-rock, or straight punk. We have an original sound, and when people ask what type of music we play i dont know how to answer. My plan is to get popular around here so that we can network with people. I've personally seen bands around here go from playing for 20-30 people to having a record deal and touring throughout california. These bands are not better than us, they are just different. Talent-wise we're definitely on par.

The music scene in my college town is great. all the houses have student residents and parties happen every weekend. We are planning on playing at least 5 shows next quarter (10 weeks, 5 shows). Next year we have 3 or 4 houses on the main party street who want us playing there. Our other goal is to record a demo. I have talked to a few guys around here who have that capability, but they haven't seen us yet (who really believes someone that they've never seen). Thats why we need to play more shows.

what should I do? I dont see the need for a degree in CS when i plan on being a musician. Any advice?
