One of my alltime favorite artists. I've bought about half a dozen of his albums. Trout Mask Replica is still his masterpiece as far as I'm concerned...

imo trout mask is the masterpiece that it is because of zappa.

i like the stuff beef did with frank. not a huge fan of his catalogue. i like trout mask and blue jeans and moon beams

i only have trout mask replica..and i have a hard time getting into it. i liked "ella guru" and a couple other tracks. If anybody has any other recommendations on good tracks for beefheart noobs it'd be nice.

It's an acquired taste. I can see where it would be very hard to like the first time through, if you don't like it by the third time, try listening to some Zappa and Tom Waits to ease your self into Captain Beefheart.

Start with Safe As Milk (The album) , I hated Trout Mask when I first heard it.
After i`d heard Safe As Milk it made much more sense.
