@ Micshazam: What Spotify is telling you is, "Why don't you buy the cd, you cheapskate, and let the long-suffering Magic Band enjoy a few cents in royalties !" ;)

Ja you can use files from your computer that aren't on Spotify on your playlists.

Now that's news to me! And potentially useful.

I buy lots of CDs, but the Captain admittedly isn't the one most likely to get me to take my wallet out.

Not even his glitzy adult contemporary phase?

MicShazam 10-03-2018 12:01 PM

Yikes! Not sure I wanna hear him of all people do something like that.

Frownland 10-03-2018 12:04 PM

No worries, that phase doesn't actually exist, though he did border on some schmaltzy material in the mid 70s.

Have you heard Shiny Beast? I feel like you might dig that one.

MicShazam 10-03-2018 12:07 PM

I think I've mostly heard parts of some albums from just around TMR - probably Safs As Milk and The Spotlight Kid. I don't remember titles, but I think I generally found his more bluesy tracks to be pretty likeable.

Captain Beefheart vs. The Grunt People - Zappa Wiki Jawaka

Quote:

Captain Beefheart vs. The Grunt People! This is a feature-length film, presently in script form, written by Zappa in 1964. Zappa said that thanks in part to Easy Rider and the Woodstock Music & Art Fair - "two of several things finally showing the youth market really means business" - three major studios have made offers to back the flick. Zappa also said that if anyone had shown interest in the film five years ago, he would never have played rock and roll. His "ideal cast" includes parts for, among others, Don Van Vliet, who is better known as Captain Beefheart, an old high school chum of Zappa's; Chester Burnett, better known as Howlin' Wolf, several of the Mothers of Invention, and Grace Slick.
Can't seem to find this script, does anyone have a PDF?
