I missed the Mascara Snake showing up at a local record store! Apparently he'll be back though and I'll definitely try and go meet him if he does. It's too late to meet the Captain the least I can do is meet his cousin!
Also, I listened to Bongo Fury for the first time today. I think I need a second listen to have a decent opinion, but it was definitely fun hearing Frank and Don side-by-side. |

I went to see the Magic Band at the Zanzibar Club in Liverpool last night and they were brilliant - even better than in Preston earlier in the year. During the interval my friend got his vinyl copy of "Trout Mask Replica" signed by Mark Boston (aka Rockette Morton) and John French (aka Drumbo). It was Drumbo's 64th birthday....
This was their setlist: More photos of the gig on flickr.... |

I wonder if they've ever toured in Australia actually. I've never heard of any tour events. Can image them being killer live.

Which disc is the most interesting/enjoyable? I've only glanced at the track listing and I'm not sure if each disc has a theme or how it's all organized. |

I think that disc 5 with the live tracks and the a capella radio phone in pieces. I suppose the instrumental songs are good if you want to learn how to play the tunes, it does sound a lot less convoluted without the vocals, thus making it easier to pick out each instrument.
Is that different from the album "Bat Chain Puller" that the Zappa Family Trust released in April?
