I'm shocked that in such a great list of influential and innovative music, there is no mention of

G Love & Special Sauce's self titled debut album

Bad Brains Rock for Light....

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

Yo - I'm new here - part of a band that rocks with the "pre-classic rock" syles of Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Santana, Greatful Dead, Emerson Lake & Palmer, etc.

I'd like to chime in with a couple of favorites that kick ass fully in anyone's mind who's into really cool rock:

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Trilogy

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery

Jethro Tull - Benefit

Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick

Greatful Dead - Terrapin Station

Greatful Dead - Blues for Allah

There's something to chew on....

Tarkus > Trilogy IMO, for the title track alone, though Trilogy has more good songs than both Tarkus and BSS, but none of the songs stand out like Karn Evil 9 off BSS or the self titled track off Tarkus. Another album that shouldn't be counted out is their s/t debut. Those 4 are the only ELP studio albums worth having IMO.

Also American Beauty is my favorite Grateful Dead album, which some may find odd, because it's the least Grateful Dead-ish album they have ever done. But Therapin Station is awesome.
