Please leave Evermore out of this, us Kiwi's would like to make a good impression on the back of this Aussie bashing and Evermore are not a good impression.

I Agree, a lot of Aus local talent is pretty poor, but Nick Cave is awesome! Tumbleweed were good but I don't think they are doing anything anymore.
Some Powderfinger is good. Personally, my fave Aus bands (apart from Nick Cave) have been and gone. Blackfeather Midnight Oil Daddy Cool

I really can't say I like their stuff on the radio at the moment, but I can't punish their live performances as I wouldn't know. Seltzer, I'll check out Jakob, I stumbled across The House of Capricorn, I quite like what I've heard, thought they might be your heavy sort of thing too. They're selling copies of their recent debut EP on Trademe for $10.

I was actually thinking of those as examples of how bad Australian music can be. My brother bought me a Pete Murray CD last year and I was considering setting fire to it, filming the flames and sending the video to Pete Murray to make some kind of point about his dull acoustic band mid-tempo MOR crap.
The other suggestions, I shall check out. And yes, Nick Cave is great, there are always exceptions. Nobody wants to say Danni Minogue then? |
