Yeah, but I didn't mean MTV rock band as in they're played on MTV. I meant typical and meant for the mainstream. You can call it radio rock if you want.

Well if you look at it that way then you're saying that The Foo Fighters are a mainstream band which they kinda are.
but I've neevr heard of MTV playing songs from their early albums.
The one song I know they played often was Low when it first came.

I guess that means that the foo fighters were able to broaden their audience.

Their debut went platinum in the U.S. & they had 3 hits off it, Big Me got to number 3 on the U.S. charts. The Colour and The Shape had, Everlong, Monkey Wrench, My Hero and Walking After You, which was on the X-Files soundtrack. I've seen the Everlong video on MTV quite a bit. I'd consider that mainstream, and did you read my post at all? I wasn't just talking about MTV.

Their first officially album, was basically just Grohl the second is more considered their debut. Either way, both earlier albums.

I read the rest of your post about them being radio rock which i whole don't dispute.

But how often does MTV play stuff from their early albums. the most they play anything by the foo fighters is probably a few times a year.

To matious:
Chris Cornell is freaking awesome

yeah but that was when it was first came out.
MTV usually plays commercial artists and hits like Best of You for a few weeks after they're released and then they'll stop.
I don't know what kind of people watch MTV regularly but I imagine not too many of them actually watch it for the music.

MTV rarely plays any earlier stuff of any band unless its part of some special. Im pretty sure The Foo Fighters last album had a hit video, and if they play old foo fighters they play Learn to Fly which is off There Is Nothing Left To Loose, and depending on how you look at it thats their 2nd or 3rd album, i'd consider that an early album.

Add tot his what you've said about songs off their other albums that MTV plays and you can infer that from all their albums at least one song (from each) has bene played on MTv.
and then you can further deduce that people did watch the vids for those videos and a good majority to people did like them and the Foo Fibhters would've still deserved to be on the best album list at least once.
i'd rather see them once if Oasis was mentioned twice.
