San Francisco has a much more vibrant jazz scene than San Diego, so I'd go there if you're going for the music. But, Dizzy's in San Diego always has a good band playing. The Loft at UCSD features a lot of different artists, but I've seen a bunch of great jazz artists there, my favourite was Tim Berne but Mark Dresser plays there often since he's a professor there and he's pretty awesome. The one that I frequent most often that usually has a good band is Northern Spirits in San Marcos, North County San Diego. That's just because it's convenient for me, I would go to Dizzy's more often if I lived closer to it.

If you're ever in town hmu and we'll go to Northern Spirits.

Also, some Nathan Hubbard I mentioned earlier:

Vinny Golia is a badass here, but I don't think he's local.

Your Local Scene

Wassup, guys.
I only just set up here, so be gentle, but I was wondering about a few things.
I'm from Ireland, place called Cork, and the scene here is the most laughably depressing thing imaginable, and it really bums me out ( so much I made a blog to try fix it )
So I really need to know about other places. Is America as good as it's hyped? Or anything. I just need to know. It's so dead here, restore my faith (or share my pain). :(

Holy land here... Weird mix of Electronic/ Dub music infused with Rock.
Just search "Tatran " And you'll get my point.

A little bit of Jazz, A little bit of Reggae, nothing too impressive.. No one is really authentic on stage which bums me out

We all know you secretly get down with the Chicago trap scene, your love for Chief Keef and Fredo Santana is clear.
