Local Band Showcase
I couldn't figure out where to put this on a normal music thread... I guess indie? But sometimes, well most of the time indie refers vaguely to a type of sound or some other aesthetic so I didn't feel it to be completely accurate to post this there. So... here are the rules, well at least how I think the format should be...
We all live in a place or near a place where a music scene is burgeoning, or at least... exists... so post one of your favorite local bands somehow... the purpose of this thread is to get those bands who you think deserve to be heard... well, to get them heard! So listen to everyone's bands... review... have fun! Once a band is posted, that band and their music must get 5 reviews before a new band can be posted. A review should be well thought out... not like "o ya they sux"... this not only helps support small groups but also allows you to come up with your own ideas and not be jaded by an existing review or thought on some popular band. You should include: link to music, genre (or as close as you can to a genre), website, hometown, band name and whether or not they are signed. sooo, here we go... Post moved here as this thread is very similar. Its not just to bump one of my old threads either, i promise.
I hope it takes off this time. I like to know about members local bands and also any cool little venues in peoples home towns. There are alot of cool little places near me that alot of people dont know about or even know exist. |

Portland, OR.
Whatever it is that you're into, there are enough people here doing it (and subsequently enough people doing it badly) that it gets annoying if you're paying too much attention. That said, though, there is something nice about living in a city where you can choose between, say, a well-known arena-rock band, an underground folk-country band, authentic Indian traditional music and, hand-to-God, Klingon metal all on the same night.

^Thanks to you I just decided to check out one of my favorite little bands from Portland, the Builders and the Butchers and discovered they will be in my state in July!
