^Those kind of videos>>>>>>>Music videos.

But I don't like live videos where they just stand there and sound just ok.

How much more pretentious could you possibly get?
To the TC, how could adding a music video to a song possibly alter the quality of that song?

swim 11-25-2006 08:30 PM

What's prententious about wanting to someone actually do something? Huge venues and music videos are boring.

Mr Sensitive 11-26-2006 05:56 AM

I quite like a lot of music videos, some bands do it with style.

^ Take this video as an example of why they add nothing to the song.
Now I'm being biased here, because when it comes to soul...I'm a purist.
I know this song is well liked, because it was covered by Soft Cell, but the imagery that the original puts in my mind is far superior to this crap, which not only adds nothing to the song, but looks like it has nothing to do with it either!

Marc Almond looks like a demented Kenneth Williams playing Nero at an English garden party. WTF.
How this video didn't ruin his carreer...God only knows.

When I listen to a song, the images I get in my head are personal to me and therefore superior in every way.

With the rare exception...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3neR407MxU
As fellow Mancunian, Richard Ashcroft demonstrates above. ^

As a rule, music vids are a waste of time.

skindredluver 11-26-2006 09:37 AM

I watched the video on you tube and I dont like when they are like home made and stuff.

It kind of depends if the song is good because if you have a good song and a bad video, than yeah I guess it could ruin the song. But if the song is bad and the video is good than I guess it could make the song better.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 11-26-2006 02:44 PM

videos can hardly ever make the song worse.
if you dont like the video, so what.
still a good song.
but a good video can add to the song easy.
if it isnt just the band on a stage. then its dull.
but its just another art form to add to the sound.
i like em.

Mr Sensitive 11-26-2006 03:38 PM

I don't see the what the problem is with music videos, there are bands who put a lot of effort into making them, such as Tool and Radiohead. Plus even the terrible ones can be entertaining.

jet 11-26-2006 03:42 PM

its just that some music videos are just really ****y and when you hear the song of the music video you just want to puke all over your self. :-(:bringit:

Mr Sensitive 11-26-2006 03:48 PM

Well I don't know about the puking part, but I can see where you're coming from. Although a music video has never ruined a song for me.
