I'm not sure this qualifies as a solo, but what about Hendrix' rendition of Star Spangled Banner?? I personally don't like it at all but it was intense.

Also, I'd like to note Chris Isaac; "Wicked Game" although someone else mentioned riffs, and I'm not sure of the difference between solo and riff. Other than a riff as being unplanned/spontaneus and solo being written in the song and notably longer. Is this correct? (maybe I should think b4 replying to these posts...lol)

You guys need to listen to Steve Howes (Yes) The Clap, Mood For A Day and Australia...He is a great electric guitarist but his accoustic work just f*cking pwns.

Solos are usually based on scales unless your neil young. Riffs are...riffs.
