1. The Life Pursuit - Belle & Sebastian

I'm too big a fan not to pick this one. It really does take a slightly new direction and come up with some stuff I'd rank toward the top end of their catalogue. The grooves are much more prevalent ("Sukie in The Graveyard", "Blues Are Still Blue") and the hooks are dynamite ("White Collar Boy")

2. Boys and Girls in America - The Hold Steady

Sweeping, Epic... I have to concur with the Bruce Springsteen comparisons. But they sound more like quality Springsteen in has prime than the man himself has in years. it takes very casually ordinary events in teen/young life...and glamorizes them in that Springsteen way by going a little over the top with the description to make working-class broken dreams seem larger than life, giving them wings and making them in a way that they serve as symbol for many of life's elements for so many of the world's people (rich, poor or in between), but by holding them up to the light...also reveals how vacuous they really are.

3. Alright, Still - Lily Allen

When a girl says to her ex-lover, "You never made me come." in a straight-ahead pop song, you know you've got something unique on your hands. Catchy as the best pop from many of the years that passed before it, yet cerebral and astute, in a new-age non-intellectual sort of way. Plus... the production and her accent (so sexy)! Though...if you've heard the single "Smile"...then I didn't need to explain any of this to you.

Rise Against - The Sufferer and the Witness
The Living End - State of Emergency
Alexisonfire - Crisis
AFI (Definently not the best, but I like it) - Dememberunderground
Thursday - A City By the Light Divided

The Sword - Age of Winters
Ultraphallus - Lungville.
Kalas - S/T

Three awesome albums of 2006.

I forgot 10 000 Days, Definently not Tool's best, but it was still a pretty good album

Did they ever release the video for Vicarious? I've also heard news they're currently making one for The Pot too. 10,000 Days was cool I guess, I still believe the order could have been shuffled up so it flowed a bit better as the opening flow of Vicarious and Jambi was stunted by 15 minutes of cold slow brooding music. I think that 15 minutes should have seen the album out, rather than having it in the middle of the 3 heaviest tracks.

Check on youtube, if they ever did one, it's bound to be there.

Oh my goodness, I love the EPs, too. I think the production really gave R&C a pristine sound - now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for the grungy, garage rock sound - but it took away from the vocals and underlying musical patterns, imo. This is one of the only times I will say the production helped - not like they needed help!

My favorite band of all time, Alkaline Trio, released their new album "Crimson" and the production on that album made me want to shoot my fvcking face off. So, I am well aware of the dangers of professional production... man, I love Robbers and Cowards so much, it is already in my top 10, and possible top 5 favorite albums of all time.
