Well I tried a search for a thred, but nothing came up.

So what I want to know, is how you guys tag your music? If you tag it at all.

What are tagging issues you've had and hints for other taggers...

Personally, I try to keep all my music tagged properly, but it's difficult...especially when I go on a buying spree and get like 30 new albums......

Opinions...?

I like tagging my music but usually only if it's something I pull up frequently. I don't like tags where the spaces are done using an underscore, thats a pet hate of mine, haha.

But I always tag properly when putting stuff onto my iPod, because if I don't I get 4 or 5 different categories for the one artist, which is a pain in the arse.

I run all my albums through Windows Media and it fixes their tags and changes the file names to Track # Track Name so it keeps everything nice and organized. I'm really OCD when it comes to my music, improperly tagged files infuriate me.

They drive me nuts, also.

I don't use Windows Media if I can help it.
I prefer to manually tag everything, so I know exactly what is where and how it's tagged.

I tag my stuff while I listen to it so it's not annoying to me rather just something to do and, yea, wrong tags do bother me.

I get quite obsessive-compuslive about my tagging as well. But it can be a pain when doing it by hand, and I hate windows media. The program i use to sort out my tags is Mp3tag (Google for it) - it's german and can do loads of useful things like renaming files consistently, tagging files from the filename if they're untagged, removing underscores, getting info from freedb automatically - it's a dream. Oh, and it's free.
