We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |

I agree with you that Morello's noodling can get annoying/simplistic/repetitive at times, but that's only one of his dimensions - and to be honest, it suits the sound of RATM more than a lot of other techniques would. But that's only paying attention to one of his dimensions so it's unfair to say that all he did was play around with pedals. He also wrote some jazzy solos with no effects (i.e. Settle For Nothing, Take the Power Back). Not to mention some of the killer riffs like Sleep Now in the Fire, Guerilla Radio, Freedom, Killing in the Name of, Born of a Broken Man, Bombtrack, , Calm Like a Bomb etc... I do think he's overrated though. But he's more than effects.

I see nothing wrong with slamming capitalism by exploiting capitalism... After all, if you want people to hear what you have to say, a small crappy indie label just isn't going to cut it. Quote:
I like Rage because they're talented musicians, and I like the aggressive style of their music, then add on the fact that Tom Morello is one of my top 10 favorite guitarists of all time. And god forbid that maybe JUST MAYBE some people like RATM because they like their music, who knows? I don't even agree with Marxism. Last edited by boo boo; 03-21-2007 at 04:05 AM. |

Nice to see you still don't look at the full arguement Boo Boo.
I beleive I covered what I hated musically about RATM in my first post , then the arguement turned to their political message so I gave my opinion on that. But naturally you read the political posts and assume thats why I hate the band totally ignoring their music. Much in the same way you ignore everything I say about U2 putting the same boring album out about 6 times choosing to take a flippent comment about a hat or about Bono's mullet as the sole reason I hate U2. Seriously if you are going to take the time out to berate me on such things at least read the whole thing.

You see EMO would want to die a worse fate for emo would be a long happy life.
And from the looks of thing hating RATM seem to be the the most unpopular music opinion. Even though it is a known fact that rage rock harder than most bands from that era. More to talk about than all grunge bands and more exciting than britpop. RAGE OWN THE 90S!! Last edited by Immortal Wombat; 03-23-2007 at 11:14 AM. |

Look, you know as well as I do the RATM beat Jesus in a rock off so I don't really know why you're getting on about them sucking. Jesus can't rap, get serious.
Secondly, RATM, like RHCP, were amazing on just uniqueness alone. Bands might have been doing similar things, but not everything, and not nearly as well. If not for Rage, the 90's (at least stateside) would have sucked a little harder. I remember we drove up to Boston (when I was in HS) just to go to a CD signing and meet them. We got lost and never made it but we listened to BoLA all the way. That god damn album is solid. But trying to rock this train off its tracks...John Fogerty is the greatest American export, musically anyways.
