You're talking about music that features electrics guitar and microphones and was recorded. I wouldn't call that untouched by technology.

I agree with lady that Natural talent is being replaced with music programs that do 90% of the work for you, now you can polish a turd and sell it as an "Artist" you don't really need to be a musician anymore you can use a music program that has the talent you need.

I am wondering how big a difference using a guitar because your hands alone cant make a certain sound is from using autotune because your voice alone cant make a certain sound.

Not a bad comparison. My only real gripe with autotune is the fact that it's so prevalent and rarely used in different or creative ways.

I'd rather listen to music in my house or on my ipod than go to a live show (most of the time)...

I really hate when you go to a show and they change the words or play **** differently or have the audience sing along. I go to hear the music I paid for performed live, not listen to a bunch of idiots in the audience scream the words.

I have only been satisfied with a handful of shows I went to, and I don't even bother going anymore.

Let the flaming commence.

Mainly the latter, but also the first. It's not that I hate harmony, I would just rather hear a crazier and more hectic piece.

perfect harmonies, untouched by technology. pure, real, true talent.

Spoiler for Mamas & The Papas - "Monday Monday":

Spoiler for Cowsills - "The Rain, the Park and Other Things":

pardon me while I cry for a thousand years, knowing that the 60s will never happen again (and that people are muddying up "music" with autotune and monotone garbage vocals).
Harmonies are not a bad thing, but the more discordant a song is I tend to like it more. Examples:

Cacophonous and brilliant, there is a vague sense of harmony but it's very unconventional.

Just pure beautiful cacophony.

I still listen to tracks with harmony, the examples listed have a semblance of harmony but it's hidden within a more cacophonous soundscape. Just saying what I prefer.

What kind of music do you listen to?

The music I listen to now is different from the shows I have gone to but my past experiences have left such a bad taste in my mouth I just haven't been inspired to go..

Some shows I have been to: Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique, In Flames, Lacuna Coil, Nonpoint, Atreyu. The list goes on but it is strictly metal and hiphop.

I have always been a huge hiphop fan but lately I have been really loving indie, singer/songwriter type stuff...

Well, in my experience bands that lead sing-alongs are generally pretty pop-oriented type stuff. So if that bugs you, maybe checking out some metal shows might be the way to go. I saw Godflesh a couple weeks ago and they barely said a word to the audience let alone did a sing-along (though that would have been hilarious). As far as bands changing it up when they play live honestly I consider that part of the appeal of going to see a live show and I think it's part of the nature of show, so they may not be a way around that one for you.

I'm an hour east of you along the Jersey coast. ~15 exits north of AC on the Parkway. Any venue suggestions/websites you can give me? I just moved down here in December to go back to college.

The only place I know is the Trocadero in Philly.
